Peter J McCauley is a musical artist based in Belfast. He has toured and released music throughout North America, UK, Ireland and Europe, performing with a number of high profile artists and appearing at festivals such as Glastonbury, Rock Am Gampel & SXSW.
His compositions have recieved daytime playlisting on National Radio in UK & Ireland, synchronisation on TV & film, and have gathered support from National Press. His début album, Béton, released through the Rams' Pocket Radio project, produced by David Kosten, received nominations for the HotPress awards' Best Début Album and The Northern Ireland Music Prize.
Collaboration forms a significant part of McCauley's ongoing ethos. In the past he has written and performed with numerous artists such as Foy Vance, Glenn Patterson, Duke Special, Rachel Sermanni, Katherine Phillipa, SOAK and the Ulster Orchestra. This work continues as he co-produces the emerging indie-electronic act, New Portals, alongside Matt Weir (Mika/Bluetree).
In his latest personal work we hear McCauley's unique vocals, EDM flavoured beats & chiming synths set amidst a signature alt-pop sound that has been years in the making.
"[McCauley] is a producer who can get unbelievable melody in his track but also make it discordant. That’s a guy who knows what he’s doing."
Phil Taggart , BBC Radio 1
